Getting Married in South Wales
Who doesn’t love South Wales? I’ve been fortunate to live here all my life, and as a South Wales wedding photographer I have one of the best jobs in the world. From the beautiful scenic hills and countryside to the rugged coastline and the bustling cities in-between, South Wales has it all and those planning their special wedding day will be spoilt for choice, there are choices to cater for every wedding taste.
Whether you choose a traditional church wedding or maybe a civil ceremony at one of the many gorgeous licensed venues that South Wales can offer, those in love will agree that there are few better places in the UK to tie the knot than South Wales.
Where to get Married in South Wales?
There are so many amazing wedding venues to choose from, catering for everything from luxury weddings to the more quirky wedding venues. South Wales has so much to offer those engaged to be married and planning to host their special wedding day there, they will be spoilt for choice. And I’ve yet to find a venue that doesn’t lend itself to awesome and amazing wedding photography.
For those looking for Luxury wedding venues in South Wales, they can be found in various guises. Elegant manor houses from years gone by, Grade II-listed mansions, or epic stately homes. Maybe the happy couple would love a beach wedding over looking the natural beauty of the Gower peninsula, if so then the lovely Oxwich Bay Hotel may be a great choice. Or there is the Celtic Manor which may also appeal to those looking to add a little luxury to their wedding planning, as well as appealing to those with a love of golf.
If a more traditional wedding venue in South Wales is what you’re looking for there is an abundance of choices. Miskin Manor, Coed-Y-Mwstwr or Llangoed Hall and Petersone Court in the heart of the Brecon Beacons are all wonderful venues. Maybe a marquee wedding, tipi or stretch tent wedding is more to your liking. If so, think Oldwalls Gower or somewhere in the South Wales countryside.
Castles play a big part in South Wales’s history and what better way to experience a small part of weddings gone by than to hire your very own as your wedding venue. Maybe you’ve always dreamed of a fairytale wedding then Castell Coch may fit the bill, or walking down the aisle at enchanting castles such as Hensol Castle or Caerphilly Castle.
Then there are those that want a little more quirky for their wedding venue. The National Library of Wales may appeal to some, what about a Lighthouse wedding or perhaps you’d like to get wed underground at Dan Yr Ogof show caves. There’s also Welsh vineyard Llanerch Vineyard or the Botanical gardens. And finally of course, true to Wales’ rural heritage there are farm locations such as Sugar Loaf Barn. I’ve also been luckily enough to photograph weddings in tree houses at the wonderful The Squirrels Nest.
All these scenic wedding venues offer the most amazing backdrops and opportunities for epic wedding photos.
Remember - Your Wedding Day, Your Way
Traditional weddings where the standard wedding day format is followed are slowly becoming a little less traditional in a variety of ways. Don’t want a wedding car? Not fussed on splitting your day into a reception for invited wedding guests and then an evening wedding party? Go for it. Remember, it’s your day.
Wedding inspiration can be found everywhere from the abundance of wedding blogs, articles on weddings, to social media which all means each and every wedding is becoming more and more personalised. Your wedding cake, wedding dress, wedding venue, wedding vows, even the style of wedding photography that you want and that suits you and your personality - it’s all there for you to personalise. Your wedding celebrations, celebrated as the newly married happy couple want to.
Chosing to celebrate your wedding in South Wales with the fabulous venues that it has to offer, you can be sure there is something to fit your unique wedding.
And remember - no two weddings are the same and that’s just the way it should be. Take time to make your own memories, not those that you think you should make.
