Best of 2018

2018 Review

2018 you have been a beaut!!

It’s been a long busy year which although very tiring, it’s been a year which has been so rewarding.

Creatively I’m over the moon the way my wedding photography is evolving. I pride myself on the extremely unobtrusive way I photograph a wedding and although I sometimes find myself questioning my methods or comparing myself to others (something I find very hard – blog post on this to come soon), this look back over the last 12 months has re-assured me somewhat.

Mentally this year has been a challenge.  2018 was my busiest yet, juggling jobs, a young family, the photography, the social media, the admin, the travel (you get the picture) has been tough, there is just never enough hours in the day!  But it never became a chore, not once.  The more weddings I photograph the more I love what I do.  Let’s face it I get to photograph happy people having the time of their lives, what’s not to love?!

As I look back at the goals I set myself at the beginning of last year the majority have been met, which according to my ‘Best Of 2017’ blog post from last year makes a ‘happy chappy’. Of course the bucket list is ever growing, as some get ticked off more get added.  But isn’t that what a bucket list is for?!

My weddings have taken me on a whistle stop tour of the country this year from amazing country houses to quaint village halls and even impressive gardens to stunning farms.  I very nearly shot my very first destination wedding, but alas, the dates were not to be.  I’ve met so many wonderful people from a myriad of different countries and have enjoyed chatting to each and everyone of them.

To the couples who put their trust in me, each and everyone of you – you rock!  You have all welcomed me with open arms and I hope the memories we created last a lifetime.

So here’s just a few of my personal favourites from 2018.  I’ve tried to keep it to 100 photos (ish) which believe me has been difficult!! Please enjoy.

Possibly my favourite image from 2018 is this one from Jo & Mark’s Garthmyl Hall wedding back in April. There are some spectacular gardens and tree’s at Garthmyl and I knew I had to include this tree in-particular in some way. I am so happy with…

Pip & Adam treated everyone to the most unique events at a wedding I’ve and I’m sure they have ever seen back in July. This was the ‘Reveal’ moment. Check out what it was over on the blog post.
